The masterplan was prepared on behalf of Tameside Council and partners in December 2003 and adopted as Supplementary Planning Guidance in April 2004.
In consultation with the local community a Development and Delivery Strategy was prepared showing individual development sites, including overarching design principles and plans for improvements to public space.
Outline planning applications were submitted between November 2005 and for January 2006 for all residential development sites. These were supported by design statements, which set out the principles and parameters for development.
A Development Brief for the new District Centre is now being prepared by GVA Grimley Ltd. on behalf of the regeneration partners. This will outline the objectives for the centre. The Local Planning Authority will be involved in the preparation of this document, and utilise it in progressing the Area Action Plan for Hattersley.
English Partnerships was chosen by the regeneration partners to take forward the selection of a lead developer to deliver the Hattersley vision. The successful developers BASE and CTP were selected in March 2007 and will now work with the community and public sector partners.
