Many different people and organisations are working with us on a wide range of social, economic and physical programmes of activity. Some of the initiatives are outlined below:
Social and economic initiatives
Through ‘Theme Groups’ Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership works with residents and other local partners covering issues to do with:
- children and young people
- community safety
- health and leisure
- jobs
- training and enterprise
- environment and housing
There is also a Community Development Team that works with residents and the 40+ community groups in the area.
Physical initiatives
Residents, agencies and public sector partners are continuing to work to bring about the physical transformation of the area - influencing major developments such as the estimated £210m land development programme and the £40m refurbishment programme for existing social housing
In advance of the main land development programme other selective new build programmes are taking place including:
- social housing at John Kennedy Gardens
- housing for rent and sale at the Deerwood Vale and Meadows developments
The new £1m sports facility, the Ken Ward Sports Centre, opened in September 2006 providing first class grass and all weather pitches and facilities for local people and those further afield.
