Developing a vibrant local economy is an essential part of the long-term plans for the area. The new developments are set to bring more money into Hattersley and improve the local economy.
As more people come to live in Hattersley the area’s needs and spending power will help local shops and facilities grow. In turn this will provide a number of new job and training opportunities.
A successful economy also needs people with the right skills and knowledge in order to grow. In Hattersley the ‘building blocks’ for this are already in place:
Thanks to a new joined-up local approach to education, pupils in Hattersley have achieved ‘significantly above average’ increases in educational attainment over recent years.
Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership works with other partners to provide an on-going range of job-related and recreational courses for local people. They are specifically targeted at resident and employer needs – and this investment in training is paying off.
Partnership working with Jobcentre Plus, job-search/support agencies and employers is providing an effective and locally accessible job advice and guidance service - known as Stop Ahead.
