Although the local population has decreased significantly since the 1990’s, a larger percentage of people are long-term (10 years plus) residents than in many similar areas.
This loyalty is backed up by Tameside Council surveys in which Hattersley residents were found to be those most satisfied with their area in the Borough.
Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership’s Community Development Team are already working with older age groups on projects such as:
- Hattersley ‘Over 50s Network’ – helping them to become independent and develop greater links with Tameside Older People’s Advisory Group
- influencing agencies and service providers to help older people to access the same services and support available to other age groups
Over the coming months they will continue to consult with older people on their needs and wishes and review work for older age groups.
