Housing

The attraction of new residents to re-populate the area is key to creating a sustainable community in Hattersley.

In Demand

In 2005 Manchester City Council defined Hattersley as an ‘in demand’ housing area. This, together with the majority of the estimated £250m investment in the physical development of the area earmarked for housing, means that the future looks bright for Hattersley as a residential area.

New Build

There are more than 800 new homes planned for Hattersley over the next few years ranging from four-bedroom family homes to more modest housing.

These major residential developments are led by BASE, a joint venture between Barratt Homes Ltd. and Artisan.  Work started on the first phase housing development in the Harehill area in March 2010, with the first properties going on sale in July 2011.  For more information and sales enquiries click here.

In addition local Social Landlord Peak Valley Housing Association has built new properties at various locations in Hattersley and Mottram.

Refurbishment

The £40m seven-year programme of refurbishment to the majority of the area’s social housing stock by Peak Valley Housing Association is now well underway. Internal  and external refurbishment to properties are now complete and a programme of external works is now underway, including new fencing, replacement of boundary walls and improved parking arrangements.
