Environment

The open and green aspects of the area are a key feature in making it a much sought after location – making it vital to maintain and protect them.

The Masterplan developed for Hattersley reflects the importance of the local environment in its future and includes provision for:

  • improving green spaces in residential areas
  • introducing a range of play spaces
  • enhancing the area’s cloughs and open spaces
  • improving pedestrian access
  • introducing traffic calming measures

Local partners are now working to develop an agreed strategy for the management and maintenance of the environment and community facilities at a local level.

Public consultation on environmental improvements and public realm will take place as part of the planning application process. The resident-led Hattersley Land Development Steering Group will be involved in this process as part of their role to ensure effective consultations take place.

Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership’s Environment Housing and Regeneration Theme Group are also involved in helping to identify and address issues on environmental management and improvement.
