Phase 1 Housing Development Gets Underway

Partners celebrated the commencement of Hattersley’s £multi-million house building programme on 13th March as works on the first phase of 173 new ‘for sale’ homes got under way in the Hare Hill area.

Members from the local community joined development partners Barratt Homes, Tameside Council, Peak Valley Housing Association and the Homes and Communities Agency in welcoming the start on the first of 26 sites, which together will result in the building of around 850 new homes by 2017.

The ‘start on site’ is a landmark in the history of the area and is part of a Masterplan, which will also bring a new supermarket and District Centre, and a range of environmental improvements.

Councillor Oldham said: I am pleased a start has been made.  Despite unfavourable economic conditions Tameside Council, local residents and other partners have continued to work towards our original plans and, although we will have to monitor and respond appropriately to housing market conditions we remain committed to delivering the Masterplan for the area and to it realising its vast potential.”

Barratt Homes will be publishing contact details shortly to enable any enquiries regarding the Hare Hill or wider development programme to be directed to them. In the meantime, if you have an enquiry please contact Hattersley Neighbourhood Partnership on 0161 368 2096.
