New Homes for Hattersley |
Despite delays caused by the economic climate, work is set to start on the first phase of the £multi-million house building programme that will transform the area.
Work on the new ‘for sale’ homes (see artists’ impression pictured on the left) will commence on the site in the Harehill area early in 2010 – the first of 173 dwellings scheduled for the site and 850 planned for the area overall.
In addition, residential developer BASE have brought forward plans to build on the site of the former high school on Fields Farm Road and, following public consultations held in December 2009 as well as a submission of planning applications, are hoping to commence on site this summer.
This site will provide in the region of 250 new homes, offering a choice of 2-3 bedroom townhouses and 3-4 bedroom semi-detached homes.
The proposals build on the design principles developed for the Harehill site, with the detailed planning application taking into account results of the recent consultation with residents, Tameside Council and Peak Valley Housing Association as well as the Homes and Communities Agency.
